1. Invite All the “Cool Kids”
What’s better than being a cool kid? Hanging with all of the cool kids. If you want to start your party like a celebrity, you better have all the local and current A-list names on your guest list!
2. Host Live Music
Live music is always a party: while celebrities may book headlining acts, you can still party like a rock star by booking a high energy live band. Bands get people moving and they liven up the atmosphere through showmanship and crowd interaction.
3. Above and Beyond Entertainment
While music is great party entertainment, it isn’t the end-all, be-all. For instance, your party may be most memorable because of a great comedian act or a remarkable magician performance. Don’t forget additional “above and beyond” types of entertainment to top off your party!
4. Hire Assistance
Doing it all yourself is a hassle: especially if you want your party to rock like the celebrity bashes, don’t trust all planning and setup to get done on your shoulders alone. Event planners do a great job at coordinating all aspects of your event and they already have network contacts for everything that you’d need. Make use of their experience!
5. Rent Out a Club
A party that matches celeb-level events has to A) be BIG and B) be in a great spot. Luckily, some clubs allow you to rent them out entirely, depending on your wallet and the club. If this is a possibility, consider charging a door fee or a mandatory donation. With live music and an open bar, most attendees won’t bat an eye at a cover charge.
6. Show Up in Style
Arriving at your party is about the most important part of your party presence: first impressions last! Showing up in a taxi or your old whoopdy car won’t impress anyone, let alone the rich and famous. Hire a professional driver and rent a car worthy of the occasion.
7. Loosen Up the Guests for Dancing / Partying
In most cases, even at a big, expensive and well-planned party, guests do not arrive limbered up and ready for the event. In most cases, they have their minds on what occurred throughout the day – they’re drastically ill-prepared for dancing or letting loose. So, lead them. Be the change that you want in your party. If you want people dancing and moving, grab a partner, start dancing and repeat until the floor is full!
8. Take Photos!
Though this may be a no-brainer for most people at this point, photos are the way to re-live and remember the events of your big day. Take many photos and consider hiring a photographer to catch even more of what happens during your party. With a digital camera, it’s also possible to stream pictures into a slideshow on your event location’s projection screen or television so guests can see what’s happening while it happens.
9. Don’t Forget Gift Bags
It may seem a bit tacky or stupid, but gift bags aren’t just for six-year-old birthday parties. In fact, your party can definitively benefit from offering a gift bag for each of your attendees. Themed parties are easy to make gift bags for – find items related to your theme! Adult gifts are a great idea too: small 2 oz. bottles of liquor, vibrators for the girls or condoms for the boys are all better than noisemakers and candy!
10. Make it Last: Party Over Days, Not Hours
One of the easiest things you can do to party like a real celebrity is to have the party for a long, or indefinite amount of time. This is an option only really available for those with high amounts of disposable income or those who save for it. Parties that span the course of days are always the best!
11. Party in an Exotic Location
Setting is key when throwing a party that could pass among the rich and famous: the more unique or exotic a location, the better it is for your party! Hyper modern, brightly lit and unique are a few elements to look for when picking a venue. Another idea is to theme your party for the Caribbean and hosting the party either IN the Caribbean or by a beach on a nice day.
12. Theme Your Party
Themed parties are awesome and they’re simple to plan through. Toga parties, for instance, have been a go-to for college frats and sororities for generations. Regardless of what the theme of the party is, be sure to integrate all aspects of the party around your theme – ionic towers on your cake for a toga party or palm trees for a beach / Caribbean themed party both are good examples of how to do that.
13. Get and Use a REAL Red Carpet
For a true celebrity experience for your party, invest in a red carpet and use it for when guests begin to arrive. Take this a step further by inviting new arrivals to take their place behind the ropes with cell phones so that “paparazzi” is present for all new coming arrivals!
